Happy Monday
Hello again. I hope your Monday is going well! This week has already been crazy for those of us in Cambodia, as we are facing new lock-downs and a curfew in Phnom Penh. I hope that you all are able to stay safe in this time.
As we look forward this week, I've included a few new funding opportunties I've found as well as some great resources from DAI, GSMA, and Citizen Lab.
If you have anything you'd like me to share next week, please let me know!
Stay Safe!

Beyond Features: Designing for the World’s ‘Digital Explorers’
In a recent post, former U.K. parliamentarian and current Vice President for Global Affairs and Communications at Facebook, Nick Clegg wrote an extensive defense of the company’s role in political polarization and the spread of hate speech, among other contemporary issues. Clegg’s argument is summed up in the title of the piece: “You and the Algorithm: It Takes Two to Tango.”
6 good practice examples for inclusive community engagement
When we intentionally plan for inclusion, community engagement projects turn into more diverse, representative efforts and can lead to more equitable outcomes. Our recent webinar featured Jacqueline Broadhead, Director of the Global Exchange on Migration and Diversity at Oxford University’s Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS). Together, we discussed why COMPAS developed an inclusion framework for cities in the UK, how…

Embracing Change: A Post-Pandemic Nonprofit Sector
It is almost unfathomable that just a little over a year ago nonprofits were operating in a “world-as-we-knew it” mentality. The onset of COVID-19 and its disproportionate impact on black and brown communities pushed the social sector to pivot, stretch and temporarily shutter programs in service to a singular goal: survival. Success was defined simply: avoid layoffs, sustain programming, and keep actual (or virtual) doors open. As we begin to consider what a post-pandemic world will look like for the nonprofit sector, the concept of turning towards new measures of success is daunting.

GSMA | Top 10 recommendations for reaching women with mobile | Mobile for Development
In today’s world, this question is more important than ever. COVID-19 and resulting lockdowns have placed an increased burden on women – who have taken on the bulk of the increased care work, childcare and home schooling. At the same time, the pandemic has amplified the potential role of mobile technology to support women take on these roles, keep informed, stay connected, and continue their businesses and their lives. Despite these benefits, women continue to have much lower access than men to mobile handsets and services. Our new figures show that across low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), women are still 7% less likely than men to own a mobile phone, and 15% less likely to use mobile internet. It is tragic that women across LMICs are missing out on being connected at the very point in time they perhaps need it most.

Virtual Event Ideas to Attract Worldwide Donors
A virtual event for fundraising is your opportunity to introduce your cause directly to a worldwide audience of donors, as long as you have a solid plan to attract them. Even as in-person activities return, the success of a virtual event speaks for itself. In 2020, 60% of donors gave online to nonprofits. We only expect that statistic to rise as organizations see their donation volume grow right alongside their geographic footprint.
We’ve put together the following list of creative ways to engage your existing donors and attract new global supporters through your virtual events.
