Thanks to a fund that the Open Knowledge Foundation was awarded from the Open Data Institute, we have completely reworked the guides of our Frictionless Data Framework website according to the suggestions from a cohort of users gathered during several feedback sessions throughout the months of February and March.

This is the first in a series of blogs focusing on the insights from the State of the Industry Report on Mobile Money 2021.
A couple of weeks ago, we launched this year’s State of the Industry Report on Mobile Money. In a year like no other, the report looks at how the mobile money industry responded to the COVID-19 pandemic. The report also highlights how the industry continued to grow, both in terms of accounts and in value transacted, despite the heavy onset of the crisis.

Scaling digital platforms through partnerships: The value of collaboration between mobile operators and digital platforms in emerging economies | Mobile for Development
Digital platforms, defined as technology-enabled business models that create value by facilitating exchanges between two or more interdependent groups, have the potential to transform emerging economies in Africa and Southeast Asia by helping to eliminate inefficiencies and extend the reach of services to a greater number of customers.
This research identifies enablers that create a suitable environment for scaling digital platforms, explores strategies for scaling, and determines the challenges faced by digital platforms trying to scale. The report provides an update to the haves/needs framework, considering how this structure can be applied to digital platforms and mobile operators in developing countries. Finally, the report offers recommendations for key stakeholders.
