The Green Changemakers Challenge
Ashoka and HSBC are collaborating for the third year, to launch the ‘Green Changemakers Challenge.’ This global innovation challenge is open to changemakers with solutions that are equipping others with the mindset and capabilities to contribute towards building a sustainable and equitable world.
The Green Changemakers Challenge will support those individuals helping people and communities find the role they can play in tackling the climate crisis and making sure no one is left out of this process.
The Challenge will award innovators with up to $25,000 of grant funding from a total prize fund of $225,000, and the opportunity to participate in a learning journey alongside HSBC and Ashoka team members.

Advanced Metering Infrastructure Workshop: Better Use of the Systems and Data (RFP)
This RFP is intentionally flexible in the research approach to encourage creativity and originality from proposers. This project will bring different perspectives together to understand the breadth of applications of advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) systems and to help realize maximum value from these systems.
Applicants may request up to $75,000 in WRF funds for this project.

News Corp Media Fellowship for Digital Innovation 2023
In collaboration with News Corp and The Wall Street Journal, ICFJ is offering journalists from around the world an opportunity to sharpen their digital journalism skills, as well as support to develop data- and/or digitally-driven projects. The 2023 News Corp Media Fellowship program includes digital innovation training, grant funding, and exclusive, virtual newsroom placement with WSJ.
The selected News Corp Media Fellow will have the opportunity to:
Contribute to WSJ projects by analyzing audience engagement and newsletter interactions
Lead peer-to-peer discussions
Promote the exchange of ideas and knowledge
Establish new partnerships and relationships with WSJ teams
The fellow will also have the opportunity to travel and meet WSJ colleagues at the bureau closest to them. This one-week site visit will include meetings with various teams and newsroom leaders. The program will cover all expenses during this week-long visit.

Fourth Call for Proposals: RERIPA Project
The RERIPA Project is launching its fourth Call for proposals dedicated to contributing to Pacific education/knowledge on Research and Innovation processes and tools, with a reference to Living Labs outputs against CCI. This activity will support the outcomes being developed through the RERIPA Living labs and will help strengthen the ongoing RERIPA initiatives.
Funding Information:
The Lead Applicant should submit a proposal not exceeding 300,000 Euros.
A successful Applicant (as Lead Applicant or Co-applicant) will not receive over 400,000 Euros as a cumulative amount of the different grants obtained from the 4 RERIPA calls.

Bayer Foundation Women Empowerment Award
The Bayer Foundation Women Empowerment Award is a project dedicated to supporting female founders to succeed and recognizing their entrepreneurial spirit. In collaboration with Unknown Group, the Bayer Foundation is ready to remove the obstacles to groundbreaking innovation.
This award will grant 15 female entrepreneurs from the Global South a €25,000 cash prize, tailored coaching as well as a global event and networking opportunities. The goal is to empower female entrepreneurs to accelerate their social business.

Asia-Pacific
Application Call For the Second Cohort of Climate Fellowship Grant (Nepal)
Climate Fellowship provides an experiential platform for youth at the early stage of their career to gain in-depth knowledge of DRRM and Climate Change Adaptation. It further creates the next generation of young professionals who will enhance DRRM and CCA to build resilient communities.
The fellowship grant is inclusive of Monthly Stipend, Travel Allowance, Communication Allowance, Meeting facilitation, Training Cost, etc. The funding amount is equivalent to NPR 300,000 (Three Lakhs Nepalese Rupees).

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives - Laos 2023
The CFLI is a program designed to support small-scale, high-impact projects in developing countries, which align with Global Affairs Canada’s thematic priority areas for engagement. The program is directed at projects conceived and designed predominantly by local partners. Projects are selected and approved by the relevant Canadian embassy or high commission. The CFLI also serves to support positive bilateral relations between Canada and recipient countries and their civil societies, by deepening contacts and supporting local endeavors.
The average CFLI contribution is $15,000 to $30,000 Canadian Dollars (CAD$100,000 is the maximum allocation amount for a project eligible under CFLI).

2023 ISIF Asia Grants now open for applications
ISIF Asia empowers organizations across the Asia Pacific region to research, design, and implement Internet-based solutions to solve Internet development challenges that support community development and growth.
There are three thematic areas.
Inclusion: Initiatives that help ensure everyone has meaningful access to the Internet, online applications, and services
Infrastructure: Initiatives to increase Internet speed, reduce maintenance and operational costs, and improve reliability and/or security
Knowledge: Initiatives that develop technical capacity and/or research around Internet network operations for technical and non-technical audiences.
ISIF Asia’s IPv6 Deployment Grants are also open for organizations planning to deploy IPv6 in the Asia Pacific. IPv6 Deployment Grants range between USD 30,000 and USD 250,000. These are open all year round and are part of the Infrastructure program. In addition, three small grants (USD 30,000 each) will be made available across any program area to economies that have not previously received ISIF Asia grants.

BIRAC Announces Call for Proposals Under BIPP (India)
Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), a Public Sector Undertaking, of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, has been set up to nurture the Biotech Innovation Ecosystem, support Start-ups and SMEs for innovation research, and promote affordable product development through a public-private partnership.
An Advanced Technology Scheme for high-risk, transformational technology/ process development from proof-of-concept to validation leading to high-value product commercialization
• Support new and futuristic technology development with major social bearing but uncertain market-driven demand
• Support start-ups, SME,s and other Biotech companies on cost sharing basis

NOFO: DRL Democratizing Digital Transformation for Women in Business in Central and Eastern Europe
The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL) announces an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications for projects that promote women’s entrepreneurship and financial and digital inclusion, including through trade and investment, in Central and Eastern Europe.
This project will support the National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality, the U.S. Strategy on Global Women’s Economic Security, the Gender Equity and Equality Action Fund, and the Global Partnership for Action on Online Abuse and Harassment.

Middle East and Africa
Digital Energy Challenge - Annual Call For Projects
The objective of the Challenge is to support the development of innovative solutions for energy access, the integration of renewable energy, and public utility performance improvement. The 2023 Call for Projects, co-financed by the European Union and the French Agency for Ecological Transition, (ADEME), will focus on Africa due to the high needs on the continent.
Each year the Challenge will award 2 to 3 utility and technology/service provider partnership projects and 5 to 8 start-up projects. An annual budget of €1.8 M will enable grant-based funding, technical assistance, and strategic guidance. Challenge winners can benefit from:
A financial contribution in the form of a grant for equipment and software purchases, training, recruitment costs for start-ups, and product/service purchase costs linked to technology/service providers for utilities
Technical assistance for all utilities and certain start-ups on a case-by-case basis, such as project management support, strategic and technical expertise, and accounting/reporting assistance
A boot camp run by cross-sectorial experts to support project implementation, foster synergies between project winners and share best practices
Increased visibility for the project through widespread social media communication campaigns piloted by AFD during the selection phase, award ceremony, boot camp, and for a period of time after these events.

A new AI for Science Master’s program at AIMS South Africa
AI for Science is a new stream in AIMS South Africa's Master’s degree in Mathematical Science, made possible through a partnership with DeepMind. The program sits at the exciting intersection of AI and the Sciences. It is a fully residential one-year taught masters with a research component.
Applications are open to students from across Africa who are passionate about mathematics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. They are looking for students who gaze at the stars and the world around them in wonder, and who want to use their talents to accelerate scientific discovery.

South Africa: ygap Agriprenenur Accelerator Program
The ygap Accelerator Program helps these impact ventures to refine and validate their business model, move towards financial sustainability, and build on their ability to create change in their communities. Participants of this program will expand their network by joining a cohort of like-minded entrepreneurs and will receive technical support and advice from our team of local experts that is tailored to the specific needs of their venture.
Ventures chosen for the ygap Accelerator Program will graduate with:
A proven and validated Theory of Change
Proof of product-market fit with a clear value proposition for key customer segments
A validated business model that verifies the desirability, feasibility, and viability of the business
Detailed financial statements including income statements and cash flow statements
Proven growth traction demonstrated through data across key metrics
A reasonable and viable 12-month growth plan with a clear plan of action, quarterly milestones, and projections

Innovation Awards for Kenyan Entrepreneurs
The Connected ICT Innovation Awards celebrate Kenyan entrepreneurs that have launched new ICT products and services. The awards are designed to highlight innovation that meets Kenya’s blueprint vision to build a vibrant middle-income economy by the year 2030. Participants are asked to submit proof of their innovation in one of 5 categories derived from the v2030 economic pillar.

Social Innovation and Disability Empowerment Awards 2023 (South Africa)
The Social Innovation Awards recognize entrepreneurs and social innovators who have developed innovative products, services, and processes that solve social problems. The program supports businesses with prototypes and those who are in their early development stages.
Awards can range from R200 000 – R1 300 000 Along with business development support to assist with venture growth.

Americas
WeXchange Women STEMpreneurs Competition
WeXchange Women STEMpreneurs Competition seeks to identify the most innovative and dynamic women entrepreneurs in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) from Latin America and the Caribbean and connect them with potential financing opportunities.
The selected woman entrepreneurs and their teams will participate in one of Google for Startups’ flagship programs -the Startup Academy- a micro-acceleration program with workshops, keynotes, and one-on-one mentoring sessions; that will connect them with experts in technology, digital marketing, leadership, and fundraising.
The prize of this call includes travel and lodging expenses for the female founder/co-founder or director (C-suite) of the company, who will be pitching.

T-Mobile Changemaker Challenge 2023
T-Mobile, the T-Mobile Foundation, and Ashoka are teaming up for the fifth Changemaker Challenge, a nationwide contest that gives young leaders the opportunity to take their ideas for creating a more connected, equitable, and sustainable future to the next level.
Fifteen finalists will be selected to win up to $15,000 in seed funding and an all-expenses-paid trip to T-Mobile headquarters to participate in the Changemaker Lab later this year.* Additionally, each of the fifteen finalists will receive ongoing mentorship and skills development.

The Google for Startups Black Founders Fund provides $150,000 cash awards — without giving up equity in return — and hands-on support to help Black entrepreneurs build and grow their businesses in the US. In addition to non-dilutive capital and up to $100,000 in Google Cloud credits, recipients also receive hands-on mentorship from Googlers, along with other resources such as sales training, investor prep, mental health therapy, and community offerings at no cost.

Call for Proposals: Canada–Brazil 2023 Collaborative Industrial Research and Development
Working together, the governments of Canada and Brazil aim to foster and support collaborative industrial research and development (R&D) projects with a high potential for commercialization. This call for proposals is open to organizations from Canada and Brazil who wish to form project consortia to perform collaborative projects focused on developing innovative products, processes, or technology-based services in the health, agriculture, forestry, oceans, mining, and aerospace sectors.
Eligible Canadian SMEs may receive up to 50% reimbursement of eligible project costs up to a maximum total funding amount of $600,000 CAD over 12 to 36 months. In Brazil, this call for proposals is offered through the Brazilian Company for Research and Industrial Innovation (EMBRAPII). EMBRAPII is responsible for the delivery of this call for proposals and the management of any resulting funding agreements.
