What’s funding this week…
The GSMA Innovation Fund for Anticipatory Humanitarian Action
Launched on 24th November 2022, the GSMA Innovation Fund for Anticipatory Humanitarian Action will back solutions that leverage mobile digital technology to help anticipate potential humanitarian impacts and enable effective early response. By focusing on the important theme of anticipatory action the Fund will contribute towards the minimisation of humanitarian impacts and the improvement of preparedness in the face of sudden-onset crises.
The GSMA is open to applications from non-profit organisations (including NGOs, INGOs, humanitarian agencies and social enterprises) as well as for-profit organisations (limited to commercially viable start-ups, SMEs and social enterprises with up to 250 employees).
Successful projects will receive a grant of between £100,000 and £250,000 to scale their innovation over a 15 to 18 month period. Applications close on 19th January 2023.
Disaster & Climate Risk Data Fellows | GFDRR
The Digital Earth team at GFDRR is recruiting fellows from vulnerable countries to support World Bank disaster and climate risk data projects and contribute to the adoption of the new Risk Data Library Standard.
The fellowship program will offer a 6-month placement for climate and disaster risk professionals (data scientists, geospatial analysts, and similar) from selected climate-vulnerable countries to work with the Risk Data Library Standard to access, create and communicate climate risk knowledge with their communities.
The selected countries are Bangladesh, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and South Africa.

Ro PLASTIC Prize: An International Prize for Innovators, Entrepreneurs, and Startups

The ideal fellow does not only have a great research idea but a significant potential as a researcher to contribute as part of interdisciplinary teams within and beyond the network of the Jacobs Foundation.
Call for Nominations: UNESCO ICT in Education Prize
The UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education is now open to recognize innovative approaches in leveraging new technologies to expand educational and lifelong learning opportunities for all, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Goal 4 on education.
Established in 2005 with the support of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Prize rewards individuals and organizations that are implementing outstanding projects and promoting the creative use of technologies to enhance learning, teaching, and overall educational performance in the digital age.
An international Jury selects two best projects annually. Each prize winner receives US$ 25,000, a medal, and a diploma during a ceremony at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. Every year the Prize has a specific theme, which, while being in line with UNESCO’s mandate and values, advocates for responsible and ethical use of information and communication technologies.
Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 12: Seeking Solutions from Young Innovators
Bristol Myers Squibb is proud to support the Lead 2030 Challenge for SDG 12. This challenge seeks to reduce waste and the release of toxins into the environment which will ultimately improve health outcomes. This challenge welcomes solutions from young innovators that include interventions such as:
Projects that demonstrate a strong focus on the link between waste and health/health equity will be prioritized.
Removing barriers to access to recycling or reuse programs for individuals or companies.
Educating the government, employers, academic institutions, and/or community members on the business case for waste reduction, recycling, and reuse and the connection to health/health equity.
Preventing food waste and food loss along the food supply chain from post-harvest to the retail and consumer level.
Reducing the release of harmful chemicals and toxins through e-waste recycling and reuse.
Italy | Pramana Asian Film Festival 2023
Pramana Asian Film Festival is calling for short and features films produced or co-produced in Asia. Selected films will be screened in Reggio Calabria (Southern Italy), 5–7 April 2023. A recent edition to the circuit, Pramana Asian Film Festival is a young independent film festival dedicated to films from the Asian continent.
The production country of the films must be part of the Asian continent, including one of the following countries:

2023 SOLV[ED] YOUTH INNOVATION CHALLENGE
Solv[ED] sparks a sense of agency in people aged 24 and under, encouraging, inspiring, and supporting them to become problem-solvers. They know young leaders are passionate about solving problems in their communities and globally.
As we approach the third year of the COVID-19 pandemic, essential health services are not available to all, economic inequality continues to increase, and educational opportunities are interrupted or have declined, all while climate change and its effects are front and center for millions of people.
