What’s funding this week…
Roddenberry Foundation Catalyst Fund 2022
The Catalyst Fund is geared towards small and/or early-stage ideas and projects that need a capital infusion to launch or prove viability. Catalyst awardees are typically piloting a program, venturing into new territory, on the cusp of launching, or pivoting in a new direction.
They are looking for:
Innovative: Approaches or strategies that innovate on existing models — What are you building on? What other solutions already exist?
Community-based: You have a deep understanding of the communities you work on behalf of — What are their needs? How are they engaged in the process? How will they be able to maintain the solution over time?
High potential for impact: A recognized issue that affects a significant percentage of people — this is relative, but we’re looking for solutions to problems that have an outsized impact.
Sustainable: Experienced team and a smart strategy for driving change — Who and what is driving the change? Why is this the right team? What makes this the right strategic bet right now?
The selection process also takes into consideration the following criteria: innovation, potential impact, eco-system, and originality.
Applications are accepted year-round.
Apply for the AirAsia Foundation Grant | AirAsia Foundation
AirAsia Foundation’s grant-making is aimed at helping social enterprises scale up as a way of empowering communities and enabling them to build sustainable livelihoods. Applicants must be registered and be based in ASEAN, and have a minimum two-year business track record. NGOs looking to diversify funding sources through social enterprise are also welcome to submit an application.
The scope of your proposal should clearly define a new initiative or expansion of an existing initiative based on a set of targets achievable within a 12-month period. This may include investment needed to develop and market new products or services, train new community members or purchase new equipment for the planned expansion. Applications must clearly explain how the investment will enable the organization to improve its income-generating capacity to fully or partially fund future activities.

Pulse Crops for Agricultural Diversity, Intensification & Sustainability
Options to increase the agricultural output and improve the system biodiversity of existing farmland include adding new crops into the rotation, growing more than one crop in a single year, and maintaining continuous ground cover.
Pulse crops (legume crops with edible seeds) are particularly of interest for incorporation into a cropping system due to their ability to fix nitrogen from the air and their high protein content. This type of agriculture intensification has many benefits including additional and more diverse sources of income for farmers from an alternative harvestable crop, providing an additional protein source to meet global growing demand, reducing agricultural inputs like nitrogen-based fertilizers, capturing additional carbon from the atmosphere each year, and improved soil health. Thus, Corteva is searching for innovative ideas for new pulse crops that can be incorporated into new or existing cropping systems. This is an Ideation Challenge with a guaranteed award for at least one submitted solution.
